Hello readers and welcome to The Week That Was, According to Deb. I may change that title at some stage to something that gives me a flashier acronym (thank you Goddess for supplying me with the word) than TWTWATD, but that will do for now.
First in news....
It appears that this lowly reporter has pissed off a fellow blogger. Unlike this blogger, I will actually name them (Pockets of Resistance), but it all came about after I had made this entry regarding the fairness of Battle of the Blogs in Blog Explosion (ooooo quick side note, thanks to everyone who commented in there) where this person was kind enough to whine about the fact that I hadn't voted for them.
In fact, here's the exchange....
I read this stuff...and for the record, I am one of the underdogs that you have voted against more than once today.

The first time I saw your blog I saw your kids behind bars.
The second time you were talking about when you and your significant other met and I was fighting with mine at the time. I was not sympathetic to your plight of picking the right date.
Scrolling down further I see your son sitting on a toilet.
I don't really like the colours of your blog. All that green just puts me off a little.

Now.... my way of thinking is that she wanted to know why I hadn't voted for her. She came back and gave me her url so that I could answer her and of course when I did answer her, she came back with this (I replied in her comments section) and the dude unicycling for me and flipping the bird is none other than Denotsko, a person I have voted for quite a few times, so while it's real flattering that you went to all that unicycling-bird-flipping trouble for lil ole me, get a grip yeah? If people don't want an opinion, why ask for it?
Another thing, at NO TIME did I ever say that your blog was the worst. I vote to HOW I LIKE THINGS. There are blogs that I vote for all the time, then they'll have content in there that bores me or another blog has something that's better and I will vote against them. I'm voting for what I think is the better blog. Do I think that you are the worst out there? No. Do I think there is better? Yes. Shit happens.
Anywho, in a bid to update and see where this was headed, I went back into the comments section today and apparently justdawn was ragging and pissy.
Maybe she shouldn't set herself up for criticism during these times or maybe she should stay off the net for those bleeding days because quite frankly, she gets kind of cranky about some real stupid shit.
Speaking of cranky about some real stupid shit, I now move on to a rather worrying trend that is emerging in Blog Explosion and that is the communist attitude.... go Rusky go!... police state mentality... unreasonable decisions currently being made by the admin staff there.
I am probably shooting myself in the foot for voicing these concerns but I'm not the only one who thinks this way or has said something about it.
I'm talking about Blog Explosion's treatment of one of their members, namely Blog Advance (no, not that Buddha bitch. I was glad when she went), a site that has cropped up in the last month offering clear and concise reviews about people's blogs and from what I've read in the comments section, not only has Blog Advance been reasonably accurate, but people have been winning in Battle of the Blogs more often after following the advice given to them.
The skinny is that Blog Explosion has deactivated Blog Advance as a member because Advance has his own traffic exchange site now and apparently competition is NOT a good thing for the admin staff of Blog Explosion.
From what I can gather, Blog Advance has not whored the site out on Blog Explosion any more than other people have whored Blog Clicker, Blog Soldiers or any other traffic site out there. I also notice that due to Blog Advance's reviews, more people are using the Battle of the Blogs feature since they have found out what's wrong with their blog.
This reporter thinks that Blog Explosion should pull their collective heads in and be a little more gracious than how they are currently acting and reinstate Blog Advance as this actually raises some very interesting points.
This raises the interesting question of what happens when Blog Explosion start their own blog. Does this mean that they can only register their blog on their own traffic exchange site?
Do they think they own the market on traffic exchange to such an extent that they're happy not being able to get their blog out to a wider audience?
Surely there's enough blogs out in the Blogosphere for the both of you.
The reason for deactivating Blog Advance is, quite frankly, rather childish.
Reinstate a blog that was doing your members a great service and stop being so damn petty.
(If I am deactivated in the near future, you'll know why....)
Lastly, I am currently the oldest person to make The Most Bangable Blog Babe List (click on that pic to go to Dawg's site) and let me just say a big fat pfffffft to me breaking my hip. I had my hips replaced back in '85 and I made sure they were kevlar replacements and they put that shit on the space shuttle (the ones that don't blow up) and I would have been breaking stuff off of you before anything wore out on me.
Dawg was kind enough to lift his over 30 age limit to put me in it. I almost feel like I was reverse carded....

Yes and funnily enough I got what you said the first time. I deleted the others and while I deeply apologise for assuming that you did the whole unicycle thing for the benefit of me, the point is that it was used in reference to me and I will portray you in any light I want on my blog. Just like your wife/SO/whatever portrayed you as part of her posse in her blog.

OK...just to prove a point...the fact that veggiebabe has made notice (and repeated mention)of the fact that I do not vote for her shows that I am not the only person in Blogland that notices who consistently votes against them...I was just naive enough to speak up. She is just calling me crazy and trying to pick a fight without even confronting me. For the record, since she seems to want to know why I vote against her even though she is not asking with Big Girl Words...I will indulge her. I am not even the slightest bit amused my the stuffed toys engaged in various sex acts, although admittedly the cat licker cartoon did warrant a chuckle. So there you have it. While on the subject of Veggiebabe, I actually voted for her BECAUSE of the stuffed animals having sex. Yoda doing the dog filled me with such mirth that I laughed for five fucking minutes. The pussy licking the pussy caused another few minutes of merriment, but that is my opinion and like yours it counts for nothing.
You do realise that you have now given veggiebabe license to slap a pic of her partner on her blog doing something out of the ordinary and she gets to type "fuck you" to you.

BlogExplosion has a long standing policy of not allowing other traffic exchanges to be rotated on BlogExplosion..
1. We own 3 other traffic exchanges. Webmasterquest.com, Cashclicking.com and Clicksmatrix.com yet we do not actively promote our own traffic exchanges on BlogExplosion.. If we do not promote our other sites (that we own) why would we start promoting outside exchanges?
2. BlogExplosion started from nothing with zero members and built their business from scratch and so should everyone else as well. It is not realistic to rely on our hard work to build up their membersbase just because BE has a large memberbase now.. We have the right to deny any competitive service...
3. We paid alot of money to acquire those members so why should we then turn around and let another person simply drain away at our memberbase.. We are not in the business of throwing away our hard work...
4. Why should we pay for a competitors bandwidth each time it is hit in rotation?
Competition is a fact of life and so is protecting your assets. BlogExplosion is not a huge company but rather still just a two man team. We have worked hard to get where we are and not taking anything for granted... Microsoft and Google are currently fighting between hiring-keeping smart people, China and the USA have positioning around a Chinese company coming in to buy an American oil company.. and COKE AND PEPSI still battle it out on the grocery store shelves..
COMPETITION IS WHAT MAKES BUSINESS GO AROUND!!
Maybe BlogAdvance needs to come up with their own plan to how to grow their business.. We did right from Day1 and we expect them to do the same... We have always banned other blog traffic exchanges on BlogExplosion and BlogAdvance falls into that category. There is no special treatment involved.
PocketLint -- I wish you and others would be a little more responsible and get all the facts before you scandalize the situation and look for comments and a good post.. One thing I hate most is when members are willing to post negatively about BE just to get a rise and a risque post for others to read... "THEY NEVER SEEM TO FORGET TO INCLUDE THEIR REFERRAL URLS WHEN THEY BASH BLOGEXPLOSION"..
PocketLint and Advance -- Really. Get a life and find other things to blog about rather than trying to stir up a scandal on your blogs and build readership that way. This is not clever marketing and don´t think it is...

IT´S A FREE SERVICE.. IT WORKS.... Show some respect to the people that work hard to make it happen and stop playing all these little blog games .. It has nothing to do with intelligent marketing -- Just brutal...

BlogExplosion lives in the real world of business. We are honest people and good guys here and I will not a couple of people tell us how to run our business.. IF you want to build your business then don´t rely on BlogExplosion to do it!!!
That is the reality of running your own business online or off.. This is how modern and competitive market-driven economics works out there. BlogExplosion competes with everyone out there and so will BlogAdvance now...
Advance put a budget together, write up a strategy document and build your business.. If you can´t do that then you should not be running that site..

The only time I linked to you during all of my post is directly to your site. If you can see my referral link in the original post then my apologies. If it's not there, which I suspect it's not because I know I didn't put it in there, then you can kiss my ass.
Nothing pisses me off more than someone telling me what I can and can't put in my posts. What really gets my goat is someone clouding the issue with STUPID SHIT to make it all go away.
Maybe you should change your TOS as it states clearly that "Your site must be somehow related to blogging or provide a relevant service to bloggers like blog hosting, blog templates, blog resource sites, blog search engines, blog software etc. Any site that we feel is not pertinent to blogging will not be approved"
I don't know what your idea of relevant service to bloggers is but I thought that would fall under it.

You know what, I'll support this site and I stand behind whatever you guys choose to do.
I look back and laugh at the whole smite situation and laugh at how petty it was. I think to some degree eventually we'll be able to laugh at this too!
Jeff I don't know you, I'm not familiar with your site or the accusations involved, but you say you have worked hard to get where you are. Just a few questions for you, Are you so threatened by blogadvance that you're afraid to help it grow? How do you profit from your "free" website? If you don't then it's not a business it's a service.
If you say blogadvance would "drain away at your memberbase" then in some aspects you are unhappy with your service and believe other people may see these flaws of yours and go running to another site if they knew one existed, but these are people who appearantly know how to build a blog, surely they can figure out how google works. Stop being threatened, grow up and make the road a little easier for those that follow instead of putting up roadblocks. Admit your site has it's flaws (as do all) and try your best to make as many people happy as you can.
