Money Collectors
I had knee surgery almost a year and a half ago, therefore what insurance didn't cover I have to pay.
It was over $5,000 I’m paying back to these people. I've never missed a payment which we agreed $150.00 a month, that's damn good considering I’m a single mother of two and I work for Walmart.
I've got just over $3,000 to pay now; anyway I happen to of missed the month of May, “why?” you ask, because I totally forgot about the stupid thing, it wasn't because I couldn't afford to.
I get a letter from this lady in the accounting office stating they will put me in collection within 10 days of the mailed letter, it happened to of been mailed on June 2nd, I didn't get it till like 2 days ago because I haven't checked the mail lately.
Anyway I called her left her a voice mail saying I could come in on Monday when I’m off and pay it then. She just calls me back talking to me like I’m a piece of fucken shit, telling me there was no reason whatsoever why I missed the payment. Also telling me we had an agreement etc.
I was like listen lady I know what our agreement was, and I don't have to pay you anything except $20 bucks a month if I so choose to do so. She then proceeds to tell me "I don't know where you heard that from" I said I didn't hear it from anyone I know what my rights are and I’ll call my lawyer and prove it to you. She then says if you pay me the $150.00 like you have been, it will be fine. I then hung up on her and she pissed me off so god damn bad she's only getting $25.00.
I just want to say these people are money hungry greedy bastards, you give and give and all they do is fucken take.
They are never happy; they are never satisfied with what you give them.
I actually should call her supervisor and complain, but I’m sure they wont do fuck all about it.

They're money hungry because they provided you with a service and they expect to be paid. That's just business.
I don't know how things work over in the States, but here you pay your bill and you stick to the agreed value. However, if you don't pay the agreed amount, but you still pay a smaller amount, they can't do anything about it but you certainly don't tell them that that's what you're going to do, you just..... do it.
You might want to invest in a calendar so you don't get all pissed off with them again. It's bad for your blood pressure Tams.

Oh I told her on purpose because she pissed me off, and she doesn't need to talk to anyone the way she talked to me, they think they are fuckin God and I handled it like anyone would

What a fucked up situation. I'm sorry that you had to go through it. I hate bill collectors, and I can't imagine what would make someone do that for a living.

I did pay her on Tuesday and I did only give her 25 dollars and I made sure the lady I gave it to told her I payed her that day.
And deb I understand they did me a service i'm not disputing that, but she acted like she did the surgery herself and she wanted HER money, sorry, but when you talk to me like shit i'll be talking to you like shit as well.

Hi there, I had to deal with ATT about something just to this same situation of making payments and they didn't honor their written and spoken word. I had all these foreigners that couldn't even say my name correctly Harrassing me all day and night. I did over 100 communications w/ att between letters, phone calls and emails and still the same crap. the screamers and cussers, calling me, Harrassing!! me, at all hours of the day and night said they didn't honor letters written and then att would say we've documented this agreement, and still the Harrassing calls, all kinds of lying crap. 1 penny really is all you have to pay. making an attempt to make right on that due amount...(c ;) Glad to hear you know your rights and stuck up for yourself!! That's really nice to hear! Bravo!! and a big high five & big pat on the back for you! (c ;)I'm so dang proud of you!!!(c :)
att I had three accounts with them too. Not very nice way to treat their "Valued customers"

I honestly think hospital collections are the worst and they keep crappy records too...even the one I work for does. I know it for a fact !

I went through rought spot once and was two months behind on a bill. I made an arrangement to pay it off. Similar to yours. I missed a payment and the collector called me and threatened to have me arrested for fraud. lmao. As if I was some sort of moron, she tried to convince me that agreeing to pay a certain amount and missing a payment constitutes a felony.
They get out of control. Give them hell!!!!!
