American Idol

Well, another American Idol finale is upon on us and are we surprised by who made it to the last two? I, for one, am not. The two favorites, picked from pretty much day one have made it. But are they the right choice to win?
This year hasn't been one of the best, pretty much average singers and the top 10 wasn't that fantastic. But we are down to the nitty gritty.
The Alabama rock dawg, Bo Bice who is not that great a singer. He is a performer and he knows how to wow the crowd, but singing wise, there have been better. He actually reminds me of the 80's singer Curtis Stigers with that whole deep throaty voice he has going on. And that hair, it's as if every rocker must follow the golden rule of having hair past their shoulders. It irks me and it just isn't needed.
Then we have the Blonde Oklahoma Country girl Carrie Underwood, the difference between these two finalists is, one can sing and the other can perform. Make no question about it, Carrie has a set of lungs on her and well, she has the whole package to boot. Put these two together and you would have had the perfect package for a superstar.
I personally feel that neither of these two should win this competition. Main reason being, they won't conform to the American Idol ways: both have their own sense of style and music and it's not the American Idol style.
Bo is a rocker who has sung with his own band for years, he will want to write his own stuff and he will probably eventually want to have his own band again, but being signed to this show is going to suffocate him. Don't get me wrong he will do well but it won't be the way he wants to go. He really needs to be signed by an independent rock label, someone that will take his music and do well with it.
Same with Carrie: She needs to be signed by a Nashville country label, I'm actually surprised she hasn’t been snapped up long ago, she reminds me of a young Leann Rimes and with the right label, she can make it big in the country charts.
Who would have been perfect for the American Idol producers and the record label on which the winner will be signed to, was either Constantine, who I couldn't stand. I thought he was a crappy singer but again he was a performer and he got a large fan base about him; or Anthony. These were both singers not with fantastic talent, but they were moldable. They were the type that you could take and turn into the perfect American Idol. Both didn't have a certain style of music, they had the boyish looks that would have got thousands of female fans and they had the charisma to be able to sell records.
But this is a competition and America has voted and two of the better contestants have won their place in the final and deservedly so.
While both Bo and Carrie are great choices to carry on and record music for public consumption, neither are what would be considered “American Idols”. There will be artistic malcontent and at the end of the day, both American Idol and the chosen final Idol will find this partnership very constricting, doing more harm than good.

I have to agree with you here...I just don't see either one of them as "American Idols".

I see both of them as one, sure Bo had his drug problem etc.. what person hasn't.
You gotta give people a chance right? I like both of them and I for one could see both of them as American Idol's and I wish both of them could win it.
Least they will both have recording contracts after this.
